EyeLock Myris

Forget Fingerprints: EyeLock Myris Brings Eye Scanning to Devices

The myris is computer mouse-size device that scans your eye. You plug it into the USB port on your computer, tablet or some other device. Pick it up, flip it over, look at it, and the sensor will immediately scan your eye to verify your identity.
Myris is a sleek handheld iris scanner, brings biometric security to home computers. The device plugs into a USB port and takes a split-second video of both eyes, scanning more than 240 points in each. A government-grade encrypted digital signature syncs with passwords stored on Myris, and never on your desktop. Once it verifies a match, it automatically signs the user into accounts through a browser extension. Since no two irises are alike, the chance of a false positive is less than one in two trillion.

Once your eye has been scanned and recorded, Eye Lock's software acts as a password manager. When it's time to log in somewhere, you can just look at the scanner, and the software will use your iris to unlock the password of whatever service you're trying to access. The myris is compatible with Windows PCs, Macs and even Chrome books. It supports up to five different users.

Myris provides unparalleled security, is portable, lightweight and is as easy as looking in a mirror. Use myris to quickly and easily enroll users for Eye Lock's access control products or to grant users access to corporate domain environments within seconds—users never have to type their username and password again. On the back end, administrators can set passwords as complex as they like and once myris is linked, they can forget them. Use myris for enrollment, directory authentication or to secure workstations, high-value transactions, critical databases and information systems for enterprises large and small.

Eye Lock uses video, uses video, not still pictures, to capture an image of your eyes, and delivers throughputs of up to 50 people per minute. No two human irises are alike not in twins, nor even on the same person. False Accept Rate of 1 in 1.5 million for a single eye.Eye Lock generates a unique encrypted code of each iris. Then to authenticate your ID, it matches the encrypted code with your eyes. The scanners themselves simply aren't designed to receive data from a file rather than a live scan. So even if a hypothetical hacker got your scan, they couldn't do anything with it.

Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detector

Best Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detector

While the Nest Protect Smoke alarm is great for those who want a 2-in-1 device that connects to several smart home devices, there's something to be said for the Roost Smart Battery. This Rs 2100 gadget plugs into any existing smoke or CO2 detector and makes it a smart device.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless, invisible gas that can be a "silent killer" in homes, cars, planes, and other enclosed spaces. A byproduct of combustion, CO enters a person's bloodstream and immediately attaches itself to red blood cells, essentially depriving the body of oxygen. A high concentration of CO from car exhaust or a faulty gas furnace can cause death through asphyxiation. Lower concentrations can trigger flu-like symptoms and other medical conditions over time. The only effective way for homeowners to monitor carbon monoxide levels is to invest in one or more carbon monoxide detectors that sniff the air and sound an alarm when CO levels become hazardous. Early carbon monoxide detectors were chemically treated pads that turned dark in the presence of CO. Modern versions are much more sophisticated.

Many provide CO readings in PPMs and peak level measurements between readings. We examined dozens of carbon monoxide detectors. The top contenders on our shortlist provide accurate, reliable information to homeowners.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detectors are used in applications such as underground garages, tunnels, go-kart race courses, engine repair shops, loading bays, engine test benches, shelters, etc. CO Detectors are used to warn when the quantity of harmful gases reaches an unhealthy level. CO Detectors are used to ensure that the management of ventilation is done the best and most profitable way, ie. according to fresh air requirements. When the concentration of Carbon Monoxide Detectors becomes too high, the fans starts automatically and stops again when the Carbon Monoxide concentration has down to the predetermined level. The Carbon Monoxide Detectors have a built-in electrochemical Carbon Monoxide sensor and have 5 years life time expectancy in normal operation enviroment. Numbers of Carbon Monoxide Detectors per square meter is different depending on local regulations, country regulations and applications.

Some carbon monoxide detectors are portable. Others may be hardwired into a home's existing wiring. Some are powered by batteries; others plug into a wall outlet. In this section of our review, we look closely at each contender's display panel, power supply, alarm system, and other elements. Most carbon monoxide detectors have a shelf life of five to seven years, but some don't last that long. Some require re-calibration or other servicing from time to time.

Early carbon monoxide detectors were chemical-soaked pads that turned dark in the presence of CO. They were not designed to provide concentration level data or other types of information. Modern CO detectors employ an electro-chemical process that sniffs the air regularly and converts CO into carbon dioxide  for analysis. The results are displayed in parts per million(PPM). An alarm sounds if the readings exceed a certain level over a period of time.

The best CO detectors protect people from two kinds of CO poisoning: low levels inhaled over a long period of time and high levels inhaled in a short period of time. In other words, a CO detector should be able to sense a slow leak from a faulty gas line and a sudden burst of CO from a car's exhaust pipe equally well.

Some manufacturers combine carbon monoxide detectors with smoke alarms. This solves some problems but creates others. The proper placement of a dedicated CO detector is different from that of a smoke detector. Some CO detectors must be hardwired into the home by a professional electrician. Others can be supplied with batteries and mounted on a wall. Some CO detectors can be carried from location to location and propped up on a stand.

Price:

Detecting carbon monoxide before it reaches toxic levels is extremely important, but the risk of exposure varies from house to house. CO is a byproduct of fossil fuel combustion, so homeowners with gas-powered furnaces or wood-burning stoves are naturally at a higher risk than people who live in all-electric homes with good ventilation. This means that some users could safely invest in an entry-level carbon monoxide detector, but others should consider purchasing a high-end model that can detect CO leaks caused by faulty vents or blocked chimney flues. Professionals who install or inspect machinery powered by fossil fuels will want to consider buying a commercial-grade carbon monoxide detector that is both portable and extremely accurate.

Smart Thermostat

 Smart Thermostat

While there’s a lot of futuristic things about the Ecobee such as its slick touchscreen interface its best feature is something that thermostat makers should have thought about years ago: How to make sure all the rooms of your house are getting heated or cooled properly. A small wireless sensor gets placed in the room that stays chilly, and the thermostat will keep the heat on until it senses that room has warmed up enough. Now that’s smart.

Compared to the competition, the Ecobee3 also has the best overall feature set, and its mobile app worked seamlessly. It's compatible with Apple's Home Kit and the Amazon Echo, to name a few smart home systems. Also, the fact that I could get all of my rooms—not just one—to the right temperature makes all the difference.

The smart thermostats are cool -- letting you monitor and control your home’s temperature from your smartphone, PC or tablet -- but they’re really about saving money. That’s because these devices can monitor temperature and humidity outside your home, your comings and goings, and tailor heating and cooling cycles accordingly.

For those who want a fully integrated smart home, the Nest Learning Thermostat is the one to get. The third version of this Google-owned thermostat has a larger and sharper display than its predecessor. Like before, it can talk to hundreds of other smart home devices from the Logitech Harmony remote to the Amazon Echo to the Dropcam Pro so it can automatically change the temperature when someone comes home, or if you’re about to watch a movie. While it has a retro-style circular design, its brushed stainless steel finish and turning mechanism all feel premium. This thermostat combines the best of the past with the future.

Devolo Home Control

DEVOLO HOME CONTROL

A smart home is the dream of many. But not everyone has the money for a custom solution that can be installed directly into the house in a new building. Manufacturers such as devolo are bidding on upgrade kits to make even later still own four walls smarter. We have the devolo home control with all its expansion elements tried again, here you can read whether the system does what it says.

The starter package is the perfect start to make smarter to his home. It includes the Home Control Center through which all commands are directed and which is the heart of the home control solution. In addition there is a switching and measuring socket, so you can, for example, already turning when you enter the house a lamp. What causes this is detected? Quite simply, the starter pack is also a door window contact contains thereby a corresponding signal via the head office are given. This set of three elements, that is already constitutes the first step towards Smart Home. Devolo has on his website which is also a demonstration house, here you can see looks like the interface in action.

The device is simple. You have to get only register and connect the panel to a wall outlet. This then needs to be connected via the supplied Ethernet cable to your router to get a connection to the network and the Internet. Outfitted I have my home control via the website, since it is faster anyway.  As one can have more than one self-contained systems, for example, for home, hotels, etc., one must first assign names. The Center is also recognized directly and then you can connect additional equipment. In my office I have the switching and measuring socket connected to the lamp. I excise the socket is now displayed and I can turn on and off over the net. What impressed me is how quickly the commands are transmitted. It takes about one second so bring back the command is transmitted, and my lamp turned on or off, so must be the. I love it!

For each device also scenes and rules can be set. So you can, for example, to pack more lamps in a scene and then on the rule: IF is the door open, THEN activate SCENE "All lights on" Activate. A really great and easy way einzuspielen complex functions here.

The motion is exactly interesting where you can register movements well. I have my now mounted in the hallway. The door / window contact is yes at my front door, but someone should enter through the window I'll also noticed this because the motion it recognizes and can raise the alarm. Thanks to double-sided adhesive film can also install it without drilling. If you then still want to install it final or fixed, there is also the possibility to fix it by means of screws, which are also included.

If the motion detector registers a movement in its field of view, you can be alerted via smartphone, tablet or PC. Thanks to the temperature sensor can also distinguish between people, animals and objects. The motion is therefore ideal if you, for example, wants at night in the kitchen and the switch does not find, here you can adjust it just so that he turns on the light when motion is detected. Of course it can also be adapted to submit a notification via SMS or email if you are not at home. So you can then, for example, Call the neighbors or the police.

The room thermostat is the central temperature control in the house, as one example, is usual in hotels. Simply attach to the wall and already is a temperature display and you can change them as you wish. The commands are then forwarded to the home control radiator thermostat, which then does the rest. Another function is the detection of low temperatures, if e.g. the heating system has broken. Here you will be notified by the system and can initiate corresponding further steps. The display is illuminated, which of course is also super convenient to also be able to quickly read and control the temperature in the dark. The room thermostat ensures that your comfortable temperature prevails at the place where you find yourself and not only on the radiator itself.

The radiator thermostat is compatible with Danfoss RA valves, and most valves with thread M30x1,5 (for example, Heimeier, Junkers, Oventrop, Rossweiner, Honeywell Braukmann). On thermostat itself can regulate the temperature by the buttons, you have to stop turning it. What also is not pleasant, the display shows the current temperature and is also illuminated. It is operated by two AA batteries. I have the radiator thermostat is now installed in the bathroom. So I can in my app already right after getting the heating thus revving it in the bathroom is nice and warm when I've become so slow-growing.

Devolo Home Control Smoke Detectors

For some time it is anyway mandatory smoke detectors in the rooms to have, why not also a smart smoke detector emits an alarm not only smoke, but also the panel will signal that something is wrong. So you get it with when you're not home or on holiday.

The smoke detector is slightly larger than my "normal" smoke detector I use previously. In the middle is a transparent button with which you can test the smoke detectors to function. It is operated with a CR123a battery which is included. The dowels and screws are included for mounting.

 Devolo Home Control Funkschalter

The wireless switch provides the user the ability to control various home control elements. Thanks to the adjustable rules can him so as use as a light switch, but as well as an alarm button. It comes with a large rocker switches, so that one then has two programmable buttons, or two paddles, so that one has then four different keys. I opted for the two rockers. As a rule I have now set: pressing IF button 1 AND the lamp is turned off in the office, then is turned on it. Then still the rule: IF is pressed key 1 AND the lamp is turned on in the office, then it is turned off.

And now I have an on-off switch for a lamp. I could now adjust this theory for three more lights and could equal control four lamps with a button. Of course, there still more in it. Thanks to the scenes you can also by pressing a key, the entire house lighting on or off. The imagination knows no limits. But that it's fun you should already so some switching and measuring sockets have to use it to control lamps.

 Devolo Home Control Remote

One can devolo home control course on the devolo app use, but sometimes it's handy if you have a pre-defined functions simply can trigger a button, especially when you're in a hurry and quickly have to leave the house. With the Home Control Remote control is possible. Here you have four buttons, each of the buttons can be assigned with different functions. So you can for example press the key when leaving the apartment and there are all devices are turned off or pressing the button and the heater automatically reduces itself. Either individual home control devices, groups or scenarios gesteurt. The range is due to future-proof Z-Wave wireless technology up to 100 meters.

The key makes a very high-quality impression. It is made of plastic and has a metal frame. There are four buttons to select, key 1 and 2 are large and can e.g. be used for important functions, key 3 and 4 are a bit smaller, so you can distinguish them from each other more easily and perhaps use them for specific functions. In order not to press the buttons accidentally, a plastic cap can be pushed over this that excludes accidental operation.

 Party hardware

Devolo Home Control is since last year also open to third-party hardware, so you can also use the Philips Hue lamps and hardware Netatmo and nest. Unfortunately, I could not try it because I had no other hardware at hand.
