Portable Robotic Printer

This printer is outfitted for our day to day life. It has a rechargable battery and an on/off switch. It connects directly to smartphones andto the PCs, and allows the user to print on any size piece of paper.

Few things in life have frustrated me as much as printers. The small mobile printer is super-compact and most importantly easy to use. It connects via Wi-Fi and works with any computer, tablet or smartphone. In order to print, you simply align the Zuta with the paper by placing it at the top left corner of the page. Once it's set up, you can use the Zuta app to print whatever documents you'd like. The robotic printer chugs from left to right and, depending on what you're printing, can take awhile.

The wireless printer works for about an hour and is rechargeable via micro USB. Users can print on all sizes of paper and it works without drivers and can print from Macs, PCs iOS and Android.


 The size is just 10.2 centimeters in diameter  is a big selling point for the product. It is aimed at users who only need a printer infrequently. The fact that it also works with smartphones and tablets is a big deal too. More often than not, to print documents from phone more than laptop. It is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, the four-inch wireless device makes it easy to produce images on the go.

The printer rolls back and forth over a piece of paper, until the on-screen image is recreated in about a minute. This Robotic Printer integrates with an app, which enables it to print what you see on your phone.

The battery just lasts about an hour, but it is rechargeable via a micro USB. It is compatible with Android, iOS and Windows. One ink cartridge can print about 100 pages.

This is an must have gadget for your iPhone, especially if you are into photography. If there's one accessory for the iPhone that has been breathlessly anticipated by a lot of photographers and videographers, it's the Motrr Galileo robotic iPhone mount. There are also white or black models, just in case you're fussy about making sure your motion-control mount matches your iPhone.

This test device was one of the Bluetooth models. It's a rather tiny device a squat cylinder about 3.25" in diameter and just two inches tall. There's a micro-USB port on one side for charging, one LED for battery status on the bottom, and several "cups" that are used to ensure a tight fit of your iPhone or iPod touch so it doesn't fall out during a photo session. The first thing you need to do is go out to the App Store and pick up the Motrr app. 

To link a Galileo-enabled app with the device, you simply twist the bottom and top parts of the mount to send a pairing signal to the iPhone. That's it. With the Sphere app, there was a special item under the "hamburger" button for linking the Galileo mount and starting the photography. What happened next was incredible: the Galileo began whirring and moving, stopping to take photos at precise intervals. Within a very short amount of time. The spherical image of my kitchen to navigate around.

The Motrr Galileo robotic mount is perfect for the iPhone or iPod touch photographer/videographer who desires precise control of camera movement. While there still aren't a lot of apps available offering support for the mount.

It is very precise and extremely quiet, perfect for filming video. Unique design offers almost spherical coverage of any scene through 360° pan and tilt. Can be mounted on any standard tripod. Not that many apps support the device at this point, particular the Bluetooth version of the Galileo.

 The iPhone videographer who wants a better way of controlling pan and tilt automatically during filming, the photographer who is working on time lapse photographs, or (coming soon) anyone who wants to control where someone else's device is pointed during a video call.

A paper battery is a flexible, ultra-thin energy storage and production device formed by combining carbon nano-tube s with a conventional sheet of cellulose-based paper. A paper battery acts as both a high-energy battery and super capacitor , combining two components that are separate in traditional electronics. This combination allows the battery to provide both long-term, steady power production and bursts of energy. Non-toxic, flexible paper batteries have the potential to power the next generation of electronics, medical devices and hybrid vehicles, allowing for radical new designs and medical technologies.

It is basically a device which can act both as a capacitor and as a battery. It is a flexible, light weight device made up of carbon nano tubes emboldened on paper (cellulose). It is basically formed by combination of cellulose with carbon nano-tubes. It consists of infusion of carbon nano-tubes with paper consisting of an ionic liquid as an electrolyte.

Paper battery can actually prove beneficial for applications where portability and size is the main requirement. Modern day electronic equipments like smart cards, digital watches facilitate the requirement of thin batteries which are long lasting and non toxic. Wearable Computers – One of the latest real time examples of wearable computers is Google Glass. 

It actually is a normal spectacle with an optical head mounted display and Glass is a computer in the form of a pair of eyeglasses and includes an optical head-mounted display which allows the user to use a smart phone. It can also be used for low power devices like calculators, wrist watches and wireless communication devices like mouse, Bluetooth headphones, keypads etc.

Paper batteries may be folded, cut or otherwise shaped for different applications without any loss of integrity or efficiency . Cutting one in half halves its energy production. Stacking them multiplies power output. Early prototypes of the device are able to produce 2.5 volt s of electricity from a sample the size of a postage stamp.

The devices are formed by combining cellulose with an infusion of aligned carbon nano-tubes that are each approximately one millionth of a centimeter thick. The carbon is what gives the batteries their black color. These tiny filaments act like the electrode s found in a traditional battery, conducting electricity when the paper comes into contact with an ionic liquid solution. Ionic liquids contain no water, which means that there is nothing to freeze or evaporate in extreme environmental conditions. As a result, paper batteries can function between -75 and 150 degrees Celsius.

One method of manufacture, developed by scientists at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and MIT, begins with growing the nano-tubes on a silicon substrate and then impregnating the gaps in the matrix with cellulose. Once the matrix has dried, the material can be peeled off of the substrate, exposing one end of the carbon nano-tubes to act as an electrode . When two sheets are combined, with the cellulose sides facing inwards, a super-capacitor is formed that can be activated by the addition of the ionic liquid. This liquid acts as an electrolyte and may include salt-laden solutions like human blood, sweat or urine. The high cellulose content (over 90%) and lack of toxic chemicals in paper batteries makes the device both bio compatible and environmentally friendly, especially when compared to the traditional lithium ion battery used in many present-day electronic devices and laptops.

As a result of the potentially transformative applications in electronics, aerospace, hybrid vehicles and medical science, however, numerous companies and organizations are pursuing the development of paper batteries.Specialized paper batteries could act as power sources for any number of devices implanted in humans and animals, including RFID tags, cosmetics, drug-delivery systems and pacemakers. A capacitor introduced into an organism could be implanted fully dry and then be gradually exposed to bodily fluids over time to generate voltage.

Working:

Internal operation of paper batteries is similar to that of conventional batteries with each battery generating about 1.5V. If one can recall traditional batteries work in the manner where positive charged particles called ions and negative charged particles called electrons move between positive electrodes called anode and negative electrode called cathode.

Current flows as electrons flow from anode to the cathode through the conductor, since the electrolyte is an insulator and doesn’t provide a free path for electrons to travel.

Similarly in some paper batteries, carbon nanotubes act as cathode, the metal is the anode and paper is the separator. Chemical reaction between metal and electrolyte results in production of ions whereas chemical reaction between carbon and electrolyte results in production of electrons. These electrons flow from the cathode to the anode through the external circuit.

Given below are three ways to create paper batteries:

1. The first method involves fabricating zinc and manganese dioxide based cathode and anode. The batteries are printed onto paper using standard silkscreen printing press. This paper is infused with aligned carbon nano-tubes which are used as electrode. This paper is dipped in a solution of ionic liquid which acts as the electrolyte.

2. The second method is a bit complex and involves growing nano-tubes on a silicon substrate. The gaps in the matrix are then filled with cellulose and once the matrix is dried, the combination of cellulose and nano-tubes is peeled off. Thus sheets of paper consisting of layers of carbon nano-tubes are created. Two such sheets are combined together to form a super capacitor with a ionic liquid like human blood, sweat or urine being used an electrolyte.

3. The third is a simple method and can be constructed in a laboratory. It involves spreading a specially formulated ink of carbon nano tubes over a rectangular sheet of paper coated with an ionic solution. A thin film of lithium is then laminated on the other side of the paper. Aluminium rods are then connected to carry current between the two electrodes.

4.They are disposable as they are made up of cellulose which is bio degradable and non toxic. They can be used in harsh climate conditions like heat and cold. This is because the electrolyte does not involve water which makes the battery operate in the range of -73 to 149 degree Celsius.

5.They utilize carbon nano-tubes, which are one of the most highly efficient conductors of electricity.

Sony HMZ-T2 Personal 3D Viewer

World's first wearable personal 3D viewer

Sony launched the so called world’s first wearable 3D TV in India for Rs.69,900. The HMZ-T2 personal 3D viewer is a head-mounting device which has HD 2D and 3D personal display with win OLED screens.


The last among the many gadgets released by Sony on October 11, 2012 is the personal 3D viewer. This device is named as 3D Viewer HMZ-T2 and Sony has priced it at Rs.69,990. This sci-fi looking gadget is already available for pre-order at Sony Stores and they will be out during the Diwali season.

The Personal 3D viewer comes equipped with a HDMIU cable which can be connected to any device that has an HDMI port. Sony has made some changes as well from their earlier version; HMZ-T1. The built in ear buds have made way from regular 3.5 mm audio out jack. This change makes it easier for the user.

Once put on, the user looks like he walked right out of a science fiction movie. These glasses are not at all a disappointment when it comes with 3D images and brilliant sound quality. The 3D images that one views with this camera are not disappointing at all. The two individual OLED screens in the glasses allow the user to experience smooth transition between 2D and 3D content. The sound quality through these glasses is also quite impressive. But there is a drawback with the headphoens; since it is tiny the user must make sure he is in a very quiet environment.

The Sony HMZ-T2 Personal 3D Viewer is the second iteration of what Sony had initially created as a concept product. Designed as a way of looking into the future of home entertainment the device is Sony's answer to the awkward truth that 3D in the home still isn't perfect.Using two tiny OLED screens, the HMZ-T2 is able to create a 'perfect' 3D image without any of the eye-based confusion that can still take place using passive or active 3D technology.

These are claims that shouldn't be taken lightly, not only does the HMZ-T2 cost as much as a high-end TV, but it also limits viewing in that only one person can see the image. Of course, if that image happens to appear the size of an IMAX screen then things begin to make sense.

SIZE AND BUILD

With an almost identical look and feel to the original Personal 3D Viewer the HMZ-T2 has clearly taken its design cues from the world of Tron looking about as futuristic as you can get. With a plastic body and rubber headband it's not too heavy either coming in at a reasonable 330g. All the controls are sensibly arranged along the bottom while the now interchangeable headphone jack has been bafflingly placed inside the eye cavities resulting in a tangle of wires before you've even turned it on.

Where the HMZ-T2 fails is in how you actually wear it. Available with a series of rubber inserts that help to block outside light out, one wonders why these actually aren't a permanent fixture. Instead you have to individually pop each part of the 'blinkers' resulting in something that is less than stable adding to the overall feeling that perhaps you're still using a prototype.

SETUP

Taking this approach resulted in a completely painless setup. There's a box for HDMI input/output and power, the HMZ-T2 then uses a separate cable, which runs to the headset itself.

The wire is more than long enough for pretty much any living room. Because it's a single HDMI you can plug in almost any input from a Blu-ray player, your Sky HD box, Xbox 360 or Sony PS3 with the only downside being that it is just a single input so you will have to disconnect everytime you want to switch between formats.

PICTURE QUALITY

The headsets features two small OLED displays each of which has a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. Yes you read correctly, that's NOT Full-HD. Does it matter? The only way to answer that question is by breaking it into two parts; gaming and films. Treat the HMZ-T2 as a gaming device and you'll be treated to a completely original gaming experience, well until the Oculus Rift is finally released.

With both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 maxing out at 720p the images you see are not only huge (The T2 creates a virtual screen size of 750-inches) but also clear. Fast response times along with the virtual 5,1 surround sound both contribute to create an immersive gaming experience that you simply won't find anywhere else. We spent a weekend playing Bioshock Infinite and felt a palpable sense of disappointment when we reverted back to a conventional TV.

Watching regular 2D films are where the chinks begin to show. Because the output is only 720p and the viewer has been designed for 3D viewing it immediately becomes clear that what you're seeing isn't the full Blu-ray experience. Instead fast moving images can become blurry and picture quality is noticeably reduced. The rubber attachments are an annoying design flaw while the fact that it's not Full-HD is regrettable. Add to that a price tag that could make you weep and what you have is a brilliantly engineered, but still not fully practical piece of the future.

The myris is computer mouse-size device that scans your eye. You plug it into the USB port on your computer, tablet or some other device. Pick it up, flip it over, look at it, and the sensor will immediately scan your eye to verify your identity.
Myris is a sleek handheld iris scanner, brings biometric security to home computers. The device plugs into a USB port and takes a split-second video of both eyes, scanning more than 240 points in each. New Flagship

New Flagship in China, Forms VR Company

It's no secret that Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC has been going through tough times in the past few years, struggling to compete against both established names in the business and Chinese upstarts like Lenovo, Huawei, and Xiaomi. Its recent virtual reality efforts, in the form of the Vive VR headset built in collaboration with Valve, have however garnered critical acclaim. It is in this scenario that HTC is reported by Taiwanese media to be considering spinning off its VR division.


Focus Taiwan reports that HTC has managed to sell only 251 units of the HTC 10 in China during the pre-order period that began with Tmall and Jingdong Mall on April 25. The report attributes the low demand to HTC's decision to introduce the Snapdragon 652 SoC-powered variant of the HTC 10 in China, known as the HTC 10 Lifestyle, managing to alienate potential customers.

The same publication in a separate report says HTC has confirmed it has set up a new company for development of VR technology. HTC is said to have issued the statement as a response to other local media reports that the Taiwanese firm had formed the VR company late last year. It did not confirm whether it was considering spinning off the company, as local media also reported. 

 The new VR company when spun off will reportedly be controlled entirely by HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang. It currently operates in several domains as per government data cited by the report, including "the sale of computer equipment, information software, electronics material and precision machinery, and telecom equipment development, as well as online retail sales." The report adds the new company is also involved in international trade and warehousing business.

The identical e-book in a separate file says HTC has confirmed it has installation a new company for improvement of VR technology. HTC is said to have issued the statement as a response to different nearby media reports that the Taiwanese firm had fashioned the VR company overdue final year. It did not verify whether it become thinking about spinning off the organization, as nearby media also reported.

Highlights:

A hoverboard is a fictional levitating board used for personal transportation. Whether hoverboards are this year’s Tickle Me Elmo or the beginning of a true movement  is yet to be seen. Either way, they’re among the most discussed gadgets this holiday season and much as in the similarly trendy field of selfie sticks, figuring out which one to buy can be quite confusing. We researched these self-balancing, two-wheeled scooters for more than ten hours and rode three for more than twenty hours. After all that, we can’t pick any one model as the best because they all work similarly—and many even use the same technology inside. But we can give you some advice on what to look for when shopping and we can suggest a model that meets our criteria for a safe buy.


Our goal was to determine what sort of differences exist between models that appear to be largely identical on the surface—and sometimes sell at vastly different prices. Ultimately we discovered that we prefer riding inexpensive copycat models over a real one that costs Rs60,000 more because the hardware controls on the cheap hoverboards are easier to master. Our general advice is to choose an inexpensive hoverboard with a good warranty and responsive customer service to back it up.



After poring through dozens of product listings looking for models that fit those criteria, we tested several hoverboards and found them to be very similar in design and performance. However, the Swagway X1 is one of the only hoverboards sold by a company with a customer service department that actually replied to our requests for assistance—important because it’s likely indicative of how responsive the company will be to customer support requests. A dedicated learning mode makes the Swagway easier to start on than the others. We felt more comfortable going faster on it than on other models too. And it has a UL-certified charger, which not all competitors do, helping to assuage fears that it might burn down your house. If you must buy a hoverboard soon, it’s what we’d get.

If the Swagway goes out of stock or its price increases dramatically, the MonoRover R2 is an acceptable option. If you’re shopping around, keep in mind that—as we explain below—if a model looks identical to the Swagway and MonoRover, it probably is. If you find a similar model in the Rs 24,000 to Rs 30,000 price range, and it has good reviews, it’s probably safe, though we can’t guarantee that you’ll get a UL-listed charger, or that something inside isn’t slightly different. No, they don’t actually hoverboard is the most commonly used term for these devices—partly because there’s no agreed-upon name for this class of product. You’ll see them called self-balancing scooters, motorized personal transporters, two-wheeled smart electric drifting boards, endless amalgamations of those terms, or just various brand names. All of that makes it difficult for you to find what you’re looking for without direction. We’ll stick with hoverboard here for simplicity.

Hoverboards aren’t likely to replace your car, your bike, or the bus as a daily form of transit—at least not if you need to commute over anything more than a couple of miles of smoothly paved surfaces. They have limited range (less than 10 miles on flat roads) and don’t move very quickly (the fastest model we tested maxes out at about 10 miles an hour). But they are a lot of fun. While a lot of people may criticize lazy hoverboard riders for gliding instead of walking, know that constantly keeping your balance takes some leg muscles. It’s far from a workout, but you may feel the burn, especially after a long ride.

Getting used to riding a hoverboard takes at least a few minutes—for some people, longer. (We suggest wearing a helmet and maybe having a friend walking behind, ready to catch you if you fall.) Once you get the hang of it, though, it’s much like riding a bike: You rarely think about it when you’re doing it. To go forward, you subtly tilt both feet forward; to turn, you simply apply a bit of pressure on the footpad opposite of the direction you want to go. The hardest part is getting on and off, because the board will start to move a little as soon as you put weight on it. Your best bet is to hold on to something as you mount and dismount, at least at first. The Swagway’s learning mode makes this task a little easier—the hoverboard is less sensitive with this mode enabled, so it’s more stable when you step on.As for safety, a hoverboard’s small wheels and lack of handlebars do compromise its stability when you’re riding over irregular terrain. It’s fine indoors or on smooth pavement, but you should prepare for challenges when going over the bumps, cracks, and rough surfaces you regularly encounter on a street or sidewalk.

Unfortunately, it’s difficult to know which models are safe—even well-known brands may cut corners by using inexpensive components that lack safety certification. In December 2015, we spoke to John Drengenberg, consumer safety director (and an engineer) for UL, about hoverboard safety concerns. At that time, UL had not yet tested any hoverboards, but Drengenberg was able to provide information about the UL certification process that remains useful for anyone shopping for a hoverboard. We continue to recommend avoiding budget-price hoverboards from unknown companies, and instead buying from companies with a US presence and responsive customer support.

UL certifies some finished products, such as vacuum cleaners, as whole units, but it also tests and lists individual components within products for electrical safety and fire risk. The charger will have the UL seal printed on its exterior, so you can easily verify this certification. Batteries however are more difficult to verify unless you take the device apart to find the UL seal on the battery itself.

However, even if a particular hoverboard’s battery and charger are UL listed, that doesn’t mean every other component inside is. The wiring may be of poor quality or use a risky design.If you’re unsure whether you have a hoverboard with UL-listed components, your best bet is to contact the manufacturer and ask for verification. In our interview, Drengenberg also suggested a few safety precautions every hoverboard owner can take. Don’t overcharge the battery—unplug the hoverboard once the battery is full—and don’t leave a hoverboard charging overnight or unattended. Make sure to use only the provided charger. And just in case something does go wrong, store the board away from combustible materials, especially while charging.

The manufacturing of hoverboards is such a twisted web that it’s impossible to know exactly who is making what, which brands are copying which, or who is telling the truth. And more than curiosity is on the line. Inventist, maker of the Hovertrax, claims to hold the patent on the hoverboard. They’re all the same. The designs may vary slightly—sometimes the faux hubcaps are shaped in Mercedes-like triangles, sometimes there are five or six spokes—but like painting tiger stripes on your kitty cat, nobody’s getting fooled here. Perhaps one factory sells boards to another. Perhaps one factory sells parts to another. Perhaps both factories buy parts or just boxes from a third factory.

The Hovertrax, on the other hand, looks like a more-refined piece of hardware. It’s a little smaller in every dimension (for example, 20½ inches across for the Hovertrax, compared with 22½ inches for the MonoRover and Swagway), and while the cheaper options look as if they came out of the same factory, the Hovertrax is obviously of different manufacturing lineage. All three are fairly heavy.

Because it’s difficult to tell what really goes into a given hoverboard, or even who actually makes it, we relied solely on subjective testing in our evaluations. We rode around an apartment, around a co-working space, down the street, and in a brew pub. We wanted to see if any of the boards were easier or harder to ride, or if any of them felt significantly faster or safer.

To put it simply: In our real-world tests, we found no huge differences in performance or behavior among the hoverboards, but we did end up preferring one of the models over the others.The narrower body of the Inventist Hovertrax makes the whole thing feel tighter—a little cramped—and it’s slower to turn from a standing position. In addition, its wheels lack any sort of tread, unlike with the other two hoverboards, which means the Hovertrax will be a little less forgiving over rough terrain. Even though it’s the most expensive model, and it may have inspired all the rest, we liked riding this one the least.

Hoverboards are toys. They’re fancy toys, and they’re fun, but that’s all they are. If you want to buy one, know that you could end up spending several thousands of rupees on an unregulated product with little quality assurance that may be illegal to ride in public in your jurisdiction.
